Dr Matthew C. Gosbell BVSc, MANZCVS (Avian Health)
Dr Matthew Gosbell is an avian veterinarian with over 30 years of clinical experience and is the co-owner and Director of Melbourne Bird Veterinary Clinic, one of Australia’s leading bird-only veterinary hospitals. He has a special interest in avian medicine and surgery, diagnostic imaging, clinical therapeutics, and advancing practical innovations that improve patient care.
Dr Gosbell graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1994, attained Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (Avian Health) by examination, and completed an ANZCVS-approved residency training program in Avian Medicine and Surgery in 2020. He has taught avian medicine and surgery at the University of Melbourne for almost 20 years and regularly lectures to veterinarians and veterinary nurses throughout Australia.
He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and peer-reviewed conference proceedings, with research interests including avian infectious diseases, diagnostic imaging, cannabidiol therapy, and veterinary drug compounding. His recent work has focused on evaluating novel ultrasonic compounding technology to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and consistency of in-clinic pharmaceutical compounding.
Dr Gosbell collaborates with Vetasyst in the clinical evaluation of ultrasonic compounding technology. His research is conducted using rigorous, evidence-based methodologies, reflecting his commitment to advancing veterinary medicine through objective scientific investigation and continual clinical innovation.
